Goodbye MVU

I have been working at MVU since September 2002 when I was still a student. I have had some great moments working here and met and gotten close to some great folks. Today the staff threw a surprise “goodbye get-together” for me. They presented me with a gift card and a portable MP3 player. It was a gesture too nice to be explained in words. The trick was to keep me out of the suite while they prepared for the party, as Brandon talks about in his post here. I was deeply touched and appreciated everything from the gifts to their compliments and well-wishes. I am leaving the company next month in pursuit of other things, however, it is never easy to leave a place and people you have grown close to, which I guess is human nature.

Brandon, the master of all trades, prepared an outstanding slideshow to showcase some of the times and memories I have shared at MVU. Pictures include my time in Michigan, MSU graduation, our Friday jam sessions at MVU, and some other ones. Check it out!

I guess goodbyes are never easy. Thanks to Brandon and the entire MVU Staff!! Brandon put a song in the background that Nikhil (Bass) and I (Guitar & Vocals) had recorded couple months ago.

Words:
Remember when I was young and so were you
and time stood still and love was all we knew
You were the first, so was I
We made love and then you cried
Remember when

Remember when we vowed the vows
and walked the walk
Gave our hearts, made the start, it was hard
We lived and learned, life threw curves
There was joy, there was hurt
Remember when

Remember when old ones died and new were born
And life was changed, disassembled, rearranged
We came together, fell apart
And broke each other’s hearts
Remember when

Remember when the sound of little feet
was the music
We danced to week to week
Brought back the love, we found trust
Vowed we’d never give it up
Remember when

Remember when thirty seemed so old
Now looking back it’s just a stepping’ stone
To where we are,
Where we’ve been
Said we’d do it all again
Remember when
Remember when we said when we turned gray
When the children grow up and move away
We won’t be sad, we’ll be glad
For all the life we’ve had
And we’ll remember when.

[…] Today (Wednesday) we had a surprise going away party for Gautam, which you can read all about here. In order to keep him away while others were getting everything ready, we had a cricket match in the empty suite next door. Gautam bowled me out quickly, while he and Justin had a pretty good battle. Past never dies. Past continues in the present and perhaps will continue in the future too. Recollection in tranquility gives pleasure unique to poets. You too belong to that genre. All the Best.
