You’re the Pianoman!

Inspired by Billy Joel’s song “Pianoman” – I tried to recreate the scene and focus only on the old man while taking out the other elements of the original song. I wrote this (revival) version last Summer in Sitla Village, Uttarakhand and finally gave it a shot on my Acoustic Guitar and Harmonica yesterday (Saturday!).
Thanks for listening!

Now Saturday just feels like another day
And this piano – it croons like the cry
The cry of the old man sitting next to me
Sayin “oh let me sing it for a while

And the song that he sang, he sang for you
Oh For waitresses working for a dime
Then his voice gave out, he’d ask of me
For a gin and some tonic and a wine
[Hmm la di da di di da]

Sang us a song, he’s the piano man
Sang us a song tonight
Well, we’re all in the mood for a melody
And he’s got us all feelin’ all right

As he sat there with a glass and a memory
Till the crowd went away in the night
And the old man cried sitting next to me
Just clinging to the song and his wine

And I said…

Won’t you sing me a song you’re the piano man
Sing me a song tonight
While I’m still in the mood for a melody
And you got me feeling alright
