Wo Khat

I wrote this around Midnight of 12th of August. Just a fleeting Nazm I wrote as a thought passed through my mind. Might need to do some more work on it. Khayaal aur Tasavvuraat bhi are like a puff of wind. Never know when they come, never know when they leave. Comments are welcome.

Here is a quick recitation I recorded at Charleston Park around 6:30 in the morning today for those who can’t read Hindi.

Khat to kya hai, bas ik khayaal hai. Ek qaifiyat, jo aayi aur choo ke nikal gayi leaving me with some words.

yeh khyaal hai jo bas kabhi jeeney na dey
har pal har waqt sakoon se jeeney na dey

koi inko bataye ki humey akela chodh dey
ya phir aakar humey woh sari khushia dey

” Umedon ke jo ghir aaye hai baadal
Kisi ki yaad ki purvayan hai

Nahin rahte hain jab din ek jaisey
musalsal kyun mere tanhaiyan hai “

The first four stanzas of the ghazal are:

    Sunhere waqt ki parchainyya hai
    Bahut sahmee huee sacchaiyyan hai

Samundar pee gaya sehra ka paani
    Pashemaan aaj tak gehrayian hai

Ab aise log hain uncchaiyon par
Nazar se gir gayen, uncchaiyan hain

Burayee kaa bada hai kad yakeenan
    Magar zinda abhi acchayian hai.
