Lay Down Beside Me

Don Williams

Both me and my older brother grew up listening to the Gentle Giant of Country Music, one of the Greatest Crooners of all time, Don Williams, or Don Chacha (Hindi for Uncle) as we used to call him when we were kids. This was one of the first songs I learned to play on Guitar when I started out back in Summer of 2006. Last night, as snow flakes were descending from the sky, I recorded a rough rendition.

Enjoy the song! Here is the MP3 of the recording. For some reason, the audio quality didn’t turn out that great so bear with it. This song is dedicated to Gudiya.

Words:

I’ve spent my life looking for you
Finding my way wasn’t easy to do
but I knew there was you all the while
And it’s been worth every mileSo lay down beside me
Love me and hide me
Kiss all the hurtin’ of this world away
Hold me so close that I feel your heartbeat
And don’t ever wander away

Mornings and evenings all were the same
And there was no music till I heard your name
But I knew when I saw you smile
Now I can rest for awhile

So lay down beside me…

Cowboy beat keeps me reminding of Clint Eastwood movies. In the 60s and 70s they were very famous. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly cannot be forgotten and they have become immortal. Before that and after that so many have come but For A Few Dollars More is my all time favourite! Try that one if you can one day and see the effect by yourself.
