Enjoy some of the music I've recorded over time on this page.

After about 3 years of musical adventures, Nikhil and I finally decided to convert our dream into a reality and in September of 2009, Iktara was born. After we noticed how our music and lyrics were reaching and touching the hearts of many across the world through the wonderful channel of social-websites, we realized that the time had come to officially launch ourselves in whatever humble way we can to spread the music around. In February 2011, we finally launched our first digital release Skyas - which is our first step towards taking our music and words to the people. A preview of some of our songs may be seen at Iktara's website.

Last Thing On My Mind

I was testing out a webcam today that I got at work and decided to record a famous folk song from the 60s called “Last thing on my mind”. I think the original was done by Tom Paxton sometime back in the 50s, but this is the Chad Mitchell Trio’s version, which was a major [...]

She Didn’t Say Goodbye

I wrote Goodbye back in June 2004 on a lazy summer afternoon while I was on phone with my friend Meena. I think Nikhil originally came up with this tune back in January 2007 last year. Here is a version he recorded today. The intro melody begins with D minor (the saddest chord!), and walks [...]

Wo Tere Pyar Ka Gam

It’s been a while since I did any karaoke. Here’s an old favorite Hindi song of mine by the mellifluous voice of yesteryears, Mukesh. It’s from a 1970 Hindi movie, My Love (Shashi Kapoor, Sharmila Tagore). I’m not sure how popular the movie was, but the song certainly was a hit, and I just re-discovered [...]

Justin’s Crawling Back

With my move to California, my jamming has reduced to weekend strumming especially with being a little busy at work and settling down and everything. With nothing much to say I thought we’d remember the old playing days and relive the magic of Keedy Night. Here is a Tom Petty song that Justin did during [...]

More Than Yesterday

I have been listening to Slim Whitman for about last 9 years or so since the day I stumbled upon his CD back in my college days. I cherish his yodeling and his mellow, romantic and clean-cut songs. His yodeling reminded me of the Hindi singer Kishore Kumar when I first heard his songs. This [...]

Lay Down Beside Me

Both me and my older brother grew up listening to the Gentle Giant of Country Music, one of the Greatest Crooners of all time, Don Williams, or Don Chacha (Hindi for Uncle) as we used to call him when we were kids. This was one of the first songs I learned to play on Guitar [...]

Visions

I decided to record an oldie tonight by Cliff Richard, one of my dad’s favorite singers. He was England’s answer to America’s Elvis Presley in the 50s. Born to Anglo-Indian Parents in Lucknow, India in 1940, he is one of my favorite singers too. I dedicate this song to my dear Father . Here is [...]

Tumse Mil Kar Aisa Laga

I recorded this song on Ashwini’s request who wanted me to sing this song for her Husband’s birthday. I’d never played it before, so just figured it on Guitar. I sang it in G. It didn’t turn out that great, but I hope Ashwini and her Husband enjoy it! Here is the MP3 of the [...]

Beqaraar Dil Tu Gaye Ja

I have been humming this song of Kishore Kumar for last few days and decided to record it tonight on Guitar. It’s just a trial recording with only verse. Simply put, this is one of the most haunting songs composed and performed by Kishore Kumar and one of the hardest of his songs to sing! [...]

Kyun Baithe Ho Gumsum

This is a song that an old friend of mine, Arvin had written back in September while I was in India, and asked me to compose it for a Stand Up Speak Out event organized by the Art of Living Foundation at Rohtak. One evening him and I sat down and I came up with [...]
