From My Sweet Lady, the next song in the Keedy Dinner Series is You and You Alone. I wrote it last year for my brother and sister-in-law on their wedding anniversary. Justin and I recorded it back in November and got some very good reviews. We decided to do it again for the folks that were there at the dinner. Brandon gets the credit for composing the original tune with some alterations (in the music and lyrics) by Justin. This is Justin’s baby with me doing some finger-picking. Enjoy!!
Words:
So many years have passed since I
I held you close to me
So many days have passed
Still there’s none like thee
We’ve come far since we met
Still you said you’ll stay
Forever and ever till the end
Till the stars all fade away
Though it’s been so long
Darling, this I know
When my eyes can see no more
You’d be there to show
The light in your eyes
When the shadows fall
And so I sing for you my love
You and you alone
The beat of my heart my everything
Yes, I swear I’ll stay
By your side till the end of time
Till the stars all fade away
You and you alone
There were times when we grew apart
Guess we were too young
Except inside our hearts
Deep inside Dear, I knew it all
I’d be there for you, should you ever fall
You are still the one
You and you alone.
I wish I wouldn’t of messed that one up so much, I can still think of how weak my wrist and thumb were while i was playin that. Besides the times I missed the chordes, that one sounded really good.
I know amigo, especially after playing Pianoman for 1000 hours (like you said), your wrist had to hurt. Let’s plan an encore next time whenever and if we play!
Stop whining! Entertainers gotta be tough.
