Storms are Knocking

I sat down to write a short story this afternoon as I’d promised someone, but ended up with some verses instead. I’d written the first two verses in July and the rest of the song just came calling..

July is winding down its show
And it hurts me as I watch you go
Laden with these tears of sorrow
Feeling as if there’s no tomorrow

But I too am by your side
Even in these cold and darkest nights
Darling if you read between the lines
How it cuts me when I hear your cries

Storms are knocking at your door
Asking if you want some more
Little do they know that I
Will stick around with you in lows and high

It’s getting overcast and so is her pain
How I long for late September rain
Wash away the sadness from her eyes
I wonder if she sees me in disguise

Storms are knocking at your door
Asking if you want some more
Little do they know that I
Will stick around with you in lows and high

Summer’s winding down its show
It’s gonna hurt me as I watch you go
Wish I could have kissed away ye’r sorrow
Whisper softly I’ll be here tomorrow..
