“Koi Baat Chale” – Gulzar Speaks

Haven’t really done any writing since A Maiden’s Story so thought of putting up a Nazm by Gulzar, which is short, but strikes a special chord every time I open my collection and read through it. I rate him as a master who can say something very poignant and mystic in very simple words. For those who simply stand on the edge and appreciate the enchanting and mysterious world of Urdu Poetry, I am putting Gulzar’s perception of Urdu Poetry and how words flow. It provides beautiful insight on the topic. He also talks about his own take on Mirza Ghalib, Triveni, and thoughts on Urdu Poetry. Taken from the DVD – Koi Baat Chale.

gulzar’s poetry and lyrics have always touched a chord…always sensitive and beautiful….
especially songs from ijaazat, maachis,aandhi….some of my favourites….

I always like gulzar’s lyrics and i think kinara is the best movie in which songs of gulzar are the best in hindi cinema thanks gulzarji

shab-e-gham(Night of sadness) ki sehar nahi hoti,ho bhi to mere ghar nahi hoti….zindagi tu he mukhtasar(brief) ho ja,shab-e-gham mukhtasar nahi hoti………..

warna hume to khud hi mukhatib karwana padta hai apne aap ko
waise husti to nahi hai meri per do line gulzar sahab ki shhan mai:
jo na kah sake apni baate is tarah k dil chu jaaye
wo ja k mile gulzar se jo pathro ko bhi bolna sikhye!!
