She’s 23
October 4th, 2007
Couple days ago in my conversation with Sapna (the new light of this website), I realized that she, in fact, would be 23 in November not 24 as I had thought (in all my wisdom!). Given the fact that I have already churned out a few compositions both in Hindi and English for her, I knew right then and there that “She’s 23″ could be a song.
The result is a little ballad that I wrote for her. It’s more of an early Happy Birthday Gift, but then we don’t know about that…So, Sapna, here is the song I was telling you about yesterday. To all friends and foes, I’m leaving in a jet plane tonight for the US of A, and I don’t know when I’ll be back again. So enjoy this last of the songs I wrote on this outstanding trip.
Here is the MP3 of the song. The recording is not that good, but I still wanted to record it before my flight tonight.

Words:
She gets up merry in the morning
Tells herself everything will be alright
But she knows he’s gone, gone forever
Heaven knows she’s tried, oh she’s tried
Guess I’ll sing a song so she’ll know
There’s a boy who’ll be by her side
And though she thinks she’ll never love another
I’ll still dream of her every night
She’s 23, she’s beautiful
She’s like a poem, just like a star
up in the sky
And so I sing for her I do
She’s like a stream, forever young that carries on..
She’s 23
Saw her smile at me and I knew
Way she said hello with a sigh
Lord I fell in love or so I’m thinking
Guess I’ll carry on just high and dry
She’s 23, she’s got it all
She’s like a dream, just like the truth
I can’t deny
And so I sing this simple song
She’s like a verse, forever sweet that carries on..
She’s 23.

Your Sapna ka Rani reminds me of Aradhana film starred by Rajeh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore! Why do you think of flying in a jet plane? Why can’t you dream about travelling in a hill station in a train with your sweet 23? Will it not be more romantic and giving you the mood to write and sing a hilarious love song ?
