He’ll Never Know
October 22nd, 2002
Strolling all alone through the tall oak trees
He walks back home in times like these
Why she went away, he’ll never know
Just longing for her touch in late night breeze
And a time just to feel all the love in her eyes
Just a little place to be in the wide-open skies
Staring at her picture when there is nothing to say
Will the world ever know when he’s gone away?
Looking at the glass while the cold wind blows
He drinks to her love in his ragged old clothes
Why she went away, he’ll never know
In his heart so deep, oh the river still flows
And a song just to sing ‘fore love’s last cry
“Just for old time’s sake a place for You and I”
Dreaming on the wings of the same old dove
Will his eyes ever see that long lost love?
So he strolls back home in the chill of the night
Like a bird too old who is lost in his flight
In the blue of her eyes, he longs to see
Those lost summer nights when he held her tight.
